First Sigma DP2 Batch Shipped from Amazon

The Amazon site is currently showing an estimated 1-3 months until shipping, but the first Sigma DP2 batch from Amazon has shipped. A lucky few have already received their cameras. Meanwhile, as is often the case, the one seller with the DP2 in stock is charging a premium for buyers who don't want to wait any longer.

Would you call this price-gouging? Did Amazon up the price when they received their first shipment or when B&H ran out? Either way, I am disappointed to see this out of Amazon. I would be more open-minded if they said up front that the pre-order price was discounted. And, they're selling the viewfinder for $200? Well, at least they were up front about that robbery instead of calling it $199.99. I know it's their right to raise the price, but this definitely changes what I have grown to expect from Amazon.

I just checked at Amazon, and they are still selling for $649.99 but out of stock. 47st St Photo is selling them on Amazon for $699.99. I don't see that as price gouging but can understand why you feel that way.
You're absolutely right, and thanks for pointing that out. Faith restored. I thought the original post was saying that Amazon was the only seller with the dp2 in stock and that they had just increased their price. For whatever reason, Amazon's listing no longer appears in my search results, and I mistook the 47th St. Photo's listing for Amazon's. I now see it under the "More Buying Choices" section of 47th St. Photo's listing. Thanks a lot for the reply. I appreciate it.
